CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES
All our favorite people are all right, James Cameron's house, formerly shared with Linda Hamilton, was briefly threatened but escaped. And from David Schwartz comes word that Edward Albert's ranch had to be evacuated, including the horses, but the fire turned another way and Mr. Albert's property wasn't harmed.

RON PERLMAN
Safely back from Moscow, Ron will be staying home with his family through the holidays. Presumably David will have a chance to present the costume soon. Several of Ron's previous projects are beginning to surface now. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is out on video; a new movie, When the Bough Breaks starring Alley Walker, Martin Sheen, and Ron Perlman (third billing) should be released sometime this spring. Advance promotion for the movie, offering it for distribution, (kindly furnished by Darlene Sullivan) has photos of the two main leads with the blurb: "Can a child's telepathic mind help find a serial killer?" The copy following the picture reads: "A forensic expert discovers a psychic link between a mental patient and a serial killer leading her to the truth behind the gruesome murders."

TNT has re-scheduled The Cisco Kid. Instead of showing it Dec. 5 as announced, they instead showed Geronimo, a TV movie. A theatrical movie about Geronimo is soon to be released; apparently TNT wanted to show their version first, and therefore put off airing The Cisco Kid. A helper relayed seeing, in USA Today, that Cisco Kid has now been rescheduled for February, so the watch continues for those looking forward to Ron dueling, maybe riding horseback, and having hair again.

About which, a small factoid, Sandra Lawson, a Hotline caller who's been a movie extra, reported an unauthorized conversation between a friend of hers and Ron during the filming of the recent Untouchables episode, Snake Man. Asked if the bald wig was uncomfortable, Ron replied that it got a bit hot in the sun but was otherwise OK. This friendly chat was interrupted by the fact that the extras aren't supposed to talk to the stars, says Sandra, whom the Gazette thanks for relaying this personal glimpse.

It would seem that The Cronos Device, slated for release in January or February, or Romeo is Bleeding (in which Ron has a tiny part) will be the next Ron Perlman appearances for us to look forward to, unless you rent the video of Huckleberry Finn. [The December Gazette will have a review of The Cronos Device by a Cornell University film commentator. It sounds watchable and tasty!]

LINDA HAMILTON
David Schwartz says Linda is due back soon from the filming of the Bruce Beresford-directed movie she's been working on for the last month or so.

JO ANDERSON
The first week of November, Gloria Handley got a call from Jo Anderson and was so flabbergasted that it was about five minutes before she really took in anything Jo said. Jo was updating her about her movie, now aired (Nov. 12): Jack Reed, Badge of Honor, starring Brian Dennehy. Jo played the sister of a murdered woman, aunt to that sister's very troubled little boy. Her hair is about a foot longer and she looks radiant.

The show was written and co-produced by Andrew Laskos, author of Beast Within. Laskos also is credited with the story idea for the screenplay of The Hollow Men. Music for the movie was by Lee Holdridge, another familiar B&B name. Jo's performance in the Hallmark Hall of Fame production Decoration Day, (1991?) with James Garner is available on video. Order through any large video store. Jo plays James Garner's daughter-in-law, with one of the worst southern impersonations on record-New Yawk, New Yawk, New Yawk, y'all-but still a good performance and a fine movie.

THE CALIENDO TAPES
Those of you who want a refund for the Christopher Caliendo concert tape should write and officially tell him so. Enclose a copy of your check, if it was cashed; give the check number, amount, and date. If it wasn't or if you sent a money order, give your name and address and say that you want a refund on your order since the tapes aren't going to be sold (as reported in the October Gazette). Then keep a reference copy of everything you send. Send to the Aqua Tile Music Company, 821 3/4 20th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90403. Nan was assured by Mr. Caliendo, when this whole trouble began, that he'd be offering refunds, but you need to write and ask for it: don't just wait.

ROY DOTRICE
Everybody's favorite Father is a Father again...a priest, in a recurring role in the TV series Picket Fences. Several episodes featuring the good father have already been aired; at least two more remain to be shown. And beginning next April, he'll be a priest again in the limited series of TV movies The Good Policeman, as reported in an earlier issue of the Gazette.

ARMIN SHIMERMAN
From Darlene Sullivan comes news that Armin recently took part in supporting the striking crew of the CBS show Harts of the West, a non-union production in which people were being very badly treated by the producers. In a follow-up, Darlene reports that due to the negative publicity, the union crew and Kuschner- Locke went into negotiations.

Armin's wife Kitty, performing under the name Kitty Swink, appeared on Star Trek: Deep Space 9 playing a bajoran minister named Rozhan, the last week of November. Another recent episode of DS-9 featured Quark...in a love story. Having seen both Pascal and Quark, Nan's opinion is...it's about time!

OTHER SIGHTINGS
Edward Lawrence Albert [Elliot Burch] appeared as the romantic rival of the resident Mountain Man hunk in a 2-hour episode of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman on CBS, the third week of November. He play a sympathetic but citified Boston doctor the out-west lady meets when summoned home by her mother's reported illness. Guess who gets Dr. Quinn's affection in the end? ELA is so good and looking lovingly pained... He ought to: he gets so much practice!

Lance Henriksen [Snow] stars in the new theatrical movie, Man's Best Friend.

Ritch Brinkley [William] plays the Lionel Barrymore part in a parody of Captains Courageous entitled Cabin Boy, a theatrical movie that opened in October. He also showed up in Lois and Clark, the newish Superman TV series, in an episode in which Tony Jay [Paracelsus] appeared as one of Lex Luthor's henchmen (apparently a recurring role for Tony).

Joe Campanella [Peter Alcott] is doing voice-overs for several current commercials, according to Laura Hardy; Taco Bell, Sealy Posturepedic, and IAMS dog food.

THE INNOVATION COMICS
Although issue 6 is the first half of Masques and contains advertizing for #7, it really IS the end: #6 was set up months ago. However, in talking to a representative of Innovation, Nan learned that Innovation had applied to Republic for the right to include NEW stories in their comics...and been turned down. Nan encouraged them to reapply after Republic's merger with Spelling-they might get a different answer. So Innovation still wants to go on, and there may be new developments in this situation in a couple of months. We'll keep you posted.

NOTICES AND FACTOIDS
The laserdisk version of Terminator 2, Judgment Day, reportedly has footage cut from both the movie and the video, footage in which Linda Hamilton is heavily featured, including a flashback love scene.

Beth Blighton reports that Andrew Rodriguez of Rochester, NY, died in November from complications of diabetes. He'll be missed by his many friends in fandom.

HELPER'S NETWORK (US)
An organization dedicated to promoting Beauty and the Beast, the whole series; supporting and encouraging the fandom, in all its wonderful diversity; and making friends.

Membership in Helper's Network costs $25.00/

WHAT YOU GET:

1. A membership certificate attesting that you are a genuine HELPER, a valued member of Helper's Network.

2. A year's subscription to the Helper's Network Gazette, a monthly newsletter providing the freshest, most current news on what's doing with the series, the stars, the fandom, B&B products, and all related matters (a $15.00 value to non- members).

2a. If you're already a Gazette subscriber, you'll get the next 2 full 1994 Q-fers (the Helper's Network Quarterly Fanzine Review) (a $12.00 value to non-members).

3. Your choice of ONE of the following:
a. the next full Q-fer (an $8 value to non-members)
b. a videotape of any two episodes of your choice, done directly from my master copies (an $8.50 value to non-members)
c. a copy of the complete Beauty and the Beast Compendium, covering literary references for episodes from all 3 seasons, together with an audiotape of Vincent's Letters to Catherine ("Dial-a-Beast") whose text is included with the Compendium (a $30 value to non-members).

WHAT YOU GIVE:

Of your dues, $5 is a contribution toward the cost of maintaining the Helper's Network Hotline, a free service to whoever calls to get the latest, most accurate news on all matters related to Beauty and the Beast. So right from the first, you'll be a true HELPER.

The first 100 people to become HELPERS will be the charter members of Helper's Network, and proudly designated as such on their membership certificates.

Those joining by December 31, 1993 will be entered in a drawing whose prize is an autographed (by the author) manuscript of Nan Dibble's next book for Cinemaker, Bright Spirit Descending, complete with Barb Gipson artwork. The novel deals with the pivotal and dramatic episodes The Alchemist and To Reign in Hell and also includes a completely original story of the founding of the tunnel community. If Nan can wrangle it, she'll get Ron Perlman to sign it, too. This would be the original manuscript, typeset and bound like a zine-a unique keepsake-and good reading, too!

IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE:

A list, available in early January, of all members, with names, phone numbers, addresses, interests, expertise (professional and personal), special slant/interest about B&B, and anything else they care to share, so that all members can truly NETWORK with one another.

Stephanie Wiltse and Nan Dibble are planning on bringing out a real keepsake, The Best of Pipeline, with Stephanie's most memorable interviews and articles, photos, artwork, and all that made Pipeline so special. HN members would get a substantial discount on the price at which this book would be offered to non-members.

Club T-shirts, to be designed by either Beth Blighton or Barbara Gipson (depending on whose arm Nan finds the most twistable) in time for Tunnelcon III, next summer.

A Helper's Network 1995 B&B Calendar.

Whatever the membership would be interested in as publications, projects, or ideas to pursue.

This will be a club reflecting the interests and enthusiasms of its members. Is there a service Helper's Network could offer the fandom? Is there something you've been wanting to do but didn't want to take on alone? As a group, Helper's Network will be able to do things none of its members could do alone. That's the strength of community: where each gives help where it's needed and accepts help, in turn: sharing who and what we are and trying to live "the best we can," in the spirit of Beauty and the Beast-Keeping the dream alive in our own lives...and together!

If you'd like to become a member, please fill out the membership form and send it to Helper's Network, 379 Amazon Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45220-1148.

TUNNELCON III
"A Family Reunion"
July 8-10, 1994

Dear Friends:

It is our great pleasure to invite you to join us for TunnelCon III, the fifth international Beauty and the Beast Convention, to be held July 8-10, 1994. We have chosen as our theme "A Family Reunion" to symbolize the family unity of B&B and it's fandom. It will be held at the historic Stardust Hotel, in their newly constructed convention space and tower. TunnelCon III will be a full three days, with set-up on Thursday, July 7, 1994. We're inviting a lot of guests and are planning many special events and activities. Your price for all this will be $85.00.

Room reservations may be made by calling the Stardust's toll-free number, 1- 800-634-6757. This number is good for the continental United States, Canada and Mexico. Be sure to ask for the TunnelCon III room rate! They've arranged a special split rate for us of $49 per night Sunday through Thursday, and $69 Friday and Saturday; this is for single or double occupancy, with a $10.00 per person charge for extra persons. Also, motor-in guest rooms will be available for $39 and $59, ask hotel staff for any further information. These rooms are detached from the hotel, but are within easy walking distance of the convention area. It is necessary to secure your room reservation with a one night fee deposit, or a credit card. Room registration cut off will be June 6, 1994. Please, make your reservations before that date.

Our charges for the convention space will be based on the number of sleeping rooms that are booked. So, please be sure to mention that your are with TunnelCon III when making your reservations. Also, let our registration committee and the Hotel know if you have special needs.

The Hotel renovations have made things very accessible to people with physical problems. The convention area is located on the ground floor, immediately behind the registration desk and guest room elevators. There are only a few steps and ramps are provided. There aren't any escalators or long walks required though the casino! There are six restaurants on the premises, most very reasonably priced. The Stardust is located midway on the Strip, with several shopping centers and other hotels within easy walking distance. We expect the weather to be a bit warmer than it was in mid June, 1992.

We will have over fifty tables of unique merchandise in our salesroom and, of course, the traditional art show and auction. We will be featuring the talents of as many of the well known Beauty and the Beast artists as possible on fliers, buttons, badges, t-shirts, other souvenir items and our Souvenir Book, which will again be edited by Carol Kyne. If you are making things to sell in the convention sales room, we request that you not label them "TunnelCon III" or "A Family Reunion", as we would like to reserve these for the official souvenirs.

For information about the costume contest, art show, dealer's room or the Fan Quality Awards, please send a long, self-addressed, stamped envelope to the appropriate addresses indicated on the registration form. Please specify what information you will need. Other contests may be announced at a later date. We will keep you posted.

Our "Summerfest" Banquet will be a sit down affair. Please indicate your choice of entree on your registration form. Seating for the banquet will be assigned by groups of 10 per table. Seating assignment arrangements for the banquet will be announced at a later date. Seating at all other events will be open, there will be no assigned or reserved seats except for our guests. At the present time we are planning for 700 people, so get your reservations in early! Help us to "Keep the Dream Alive", and to celebrate "Beauty and the Beast" as it was, as it is, and as it is yet to be!

Be Well!
TunnelCon III Committee
